JUNE 22, 2021, DUBAI/BENGALURU:  Subex, a leading provider of Digital Trust, Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity solutions, and Spire Solutions, Middle East & Africa’s leading value-added distributor (VAD), have announced a strategic tie-up to address the steep rise in cyberattacks and associated cyber risks in the region.

As per the findings of Subex’s latest threat landscape report, segments such as oil and gas, manufacturing, and healthcare have been at the receiving end of complex and persistent cyberattacks in the Middle East. The volume of inbound cyberattacks grew by 67 percent in the first 4 months of 2021 and continues to increase with each passing month.

A major area of concern in the region is that some of the cyberattacks are targeting the health and safety mechanisms in industrial facilities leading to occupational safety risks to employees. The collaboration between Subex and Spire will ensure that these businesses are protected at critical infrastructure level security with the most comprehensive stack of Internet of Things, Operational Technology, and converged environment (IoT-OT and Information Tech) protection solutions.

Leading Middle East-based oil and gas entity signs up Subex and Spire

Subex and Spire have also just been awarded a project by a major oil and gas entity in the Middle East to meet its cybersecurity, device discovery, and cyber risk assessment requirements. The said entity currently manages refinery, petrochemicals, and LNG import operations through one of the biggest petroleum complexes in the region.

As part of the project, Subex is deploying its IoT and OT security solution Subex Secure to detect, contain and address unauthorized intrusions and threats, improve cybersecurity posture, and ensure overall protection from malware and disruption caused by cyberattacks. The project will help the entity focus on its core business objectives while Subex and Spire ensure secure operations, assets, and infrastructure across locations and projects.

Subex currently runs the world’s biggest adaptive honeypot network spread across over 70 cities. This gives the company the width and depth in threat intelligence aggregation that helps in detecting the latest and the most sophisticated cyber threats.

“We are delighted by this win that has come in so early in our partnership with Spire. It is a validation of our joint mission to secure businesses in the region. I am confident that this partnership will enable businesses to benefit from the synergies brought about by the strengths of both organizations. With the rising number of cyberattacks and the consequent increase in cyber risks, businesses should now accord a higher degree of priority and attention to cybersecurity. We look forward to this strategic partnership evolving into a cornerstone for securing businesses and their operations,” said Vinod Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, Subex.

Mohieddin Kharnoub, Chief Revenue Officer of Spire, said  “We are seeing a growing trend of OT, IoT and IIoT environments being targeted by cybercriminals. Securing these is not the same as securing the IT environment. We are glad to partner with Subex to bring a bespoke approach to our region and to further strengthen our efforts to secure IT, OT, and IoT environments. The project we recently got awarded is a testimony to the regional needs and our joint ability to fulfill it successfully.”

6th May 2021Denver, Subex, a pioneer of Digital Trust, announced a partnership with Snowflake, the Data Cloud company, to bring the power of AI-driven Augmented Analytics to enterprises. Subex, through its Augmented Analytics platform, HyperSense, and Snowflake will combine competencies to enable enterprises to accelerate their data analytics journey and realize the true value of their data.

Subex’s HyperSense is an Augmented Analytics platform that helps organizations enhance innovation and growth across businesses through AI-driven decision analytics. It increases productivity and efficiency through a drag & drop function and does not require coding expertise to build analytics models. It enables business users to evolve into citizen data scientists and delivers quick ad-hoc use cases. Through the partnership, Subex and Snowflake aim to bring accelerated efficiency and agility to enterprises and help them innovate and create greater value for their businesses.

Research shows that 87% of organizations have low Business Intelligence (BI) maturity and adoption rate of only 30% across all its employees. Organizations are not able to fully maximize the benefits of data analytics in such a scenario due to multiple reasons such as high investment requirements, lack of the right skillsets, security, and compliance, and data silos. To solve these challenges and accelerate the adoption of AI within the enterprise community, Subex’s HyperSense platform with Snowflake’s Data Cloud aims to organize and secure data in the cloud and make it AI-ready.

“Data has become the most useful asset for any organization, and how they utilize it to generate maximum value for everyone in the value chain is going to differentiate any data-driven organization from the rest. The vision of the partnership between Subex and Snowflake is to change the way companies access and explore their data. Snowflake’s Data Cloud is mobilizing data globally. We believe that partnering with Snowflake provides us with an opportunity to access a much wider decision analytics market.

The objective of this partnership is to bring data science closer to the business by democratizing AI and increasing adoption of BI, enabling a process automation layer, and a selection of pre-built reference use cases. We are excited to join hands with Snowflake to deliver exponential value to our customers.”, said Suresh Chintada, Chief Technology Officer, Subex.

Vimal Venkatram, Snowflake’s Country Manager for India, said, “Snowflake’s vision is a world with unlimited access to governed data so that every organization can tackle the challenges and opportunities of today and reveal the possibilities of tomorrow. Snowflake’s Data Cloud unique capabilities combined with Subex’s HyperSense platform will provide enterprises with a cohesive automated suite to ensure users harness the full potential of AI across the entire data value chain. Our customers will be able to unite their siloed data, securely share governed data, and execute diverse analytic workloads. Through the partnership with Subex, we look forward to helping every business become data-driven“.

  • A flexible, modular, and no-code solution built to accelerate the adoption and democratisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enterprise analytics
  • Now, enterprise business users can easily compose business-critical analytics use cases, with powerful yet easy-to-use capabilities using HyperSense

22nd April 2021, DenverSubex, a pioneer in Digital Trust, today launches HyperSense, an end-to-end Augmented Analytics platform that helps enterprises make faster, better decisions by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the data value chain.

Developed based on Subex’s extensive data analytics experience, HyperSense contains all the Augmented Analytics capabilities enterprises need in one flexible and modular platform. HyperSense‘s unique no-code capabilities allow users without a knowledge of coding to easily aggregate data from disparate sources, turn data into insights by building, interpreting, and tuning AI models, and effortlessly share their findings across the organization.

First defined by Gartner, Augmented Analytics uses enabling technologies such as machine learning and AI to assist with data preparation, insight generation, and insight explanation. It empowers experts as well as non-data scientists by automating many aspects of data science, including model development, management and deployment of AI models.

AI is still in the early stages of meaningful adoption in most businesses. Enterprises eager to harness the promise of AI and machine learning technology typically encounter multiple roadblocks such as demonstrating proof of value through nimble pilots; the absence of an integrated AI and data stack, and a lack of AI skills.

HyperSense solves all these challenges through five powerful yet modular studios:

  • Data Management Studio gives users one-place access to batch and streaming data across multiple data formats and lets them search, enrich, structure, and validate the data collected from across the business;
  • Business Modelling Studio allows users to apply rules and run data audits in real-time, profile information, monitor and forecast business KPIs;
  • AI Studio adds AI capabilities such as model building, model diagnostics, explainable AI, and hyperparameter tuning;
  • Business Intelligence Studio visualises the data analytics output for fast insights and easy sharing;
  • Process Automation Studio allows users to create actions and workflows to drive forward decisions based on the data insights.

HyperSense also includes a number of pre-built analytics use cases in marketing, finance, and technology verticals for enterprises to deliver ultra-fast results. In addition, customers can use the HyperSense platform to build their own tailor-made, AI-powered analytics applications.

The cloud-native platform can be integrated with existing data management infrastructures or implemented as a standalone, plug-and-play data analytics solution.

Suresh Chintada, Chief Technology Officer, Subex, comments: “Most enterprises struggle to implement AI with business value at its centre. Instead, AI initiatives are driven by data science teams, with little alignment between the priorities of business and IT. We developed HyperSense to address this – it gives organisations more autonomy, wider access to AI and machine learning, and puts more power into the hands of business users. With this game-changing platform, businesses will be able to truly democratise AI and turn data into reliable insights with greater speed and efficiency, supporting elastic business models and significantly accelerating their business transformation.”

HyperSense is a no-code, elastic, cloud-native platform built on open-source technology and can be deployed on-premises, in a hybrid infrastructure, or in any cloud environment. The platform is designed to help enterprises augment ROI from analytics and increase efficiency across the entire data value chain.

Partnership delivers successful IoT and OT security deployments securing the ecosystem

Bangalore and Singapore, March 17, 2021Subexleading provider of digital trust, Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity solutions, and SkyLab, a leader in 5G Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) and Industrial IoT have announced a partnership to offer IoT and OT cybersecurity solutions and services to the maritime sector.

These solutions offered jointly by Subex and SkyLab have been successfully deployed and are already securing ships and maritime infrastructure across oceans. The industry can look up to this partnership to protect their critical assets from cyberattacks and cybercrime

This partnership will help boost the overall cybersecurity posture of the maritime industry as ships, offshore and onshore maritime assetscommunication channels and shipping infrastructure will now receive the highest levels of cybersecurity protectionthreat risk management support, solutions, and services.

According to Subex’s research conducted using data from its global honeypot, shipping companies around the globe were attacked almost 1.5 million times in the last 30 days. Of these, over 64,000 attacks were highly sophisticated and carried out using complex malware and breach tactics. Social engineering, deception, and traffic manipulation were all used to create breaches and enable intrusion into core and peripheral infrastructure.

Targets for these attacks include datacenters, command and control infrastructure, navigation systems, power, and life support systems among others. The increase in volume also increases the chances of a successful breach. Thus, the industry continues to be at risk.

In addition to the rising threat to maritime infrastructure, there is also the secondary threat of potentially significant losses caused by the loss of shipping days, delays in transit of goods, damage to critical infrastructureloss of either customer or commercially sensitive data and ransom demandsIn one incident off the coast of the United States, hackers tried to take over the navigation systems of a ship and ram the vessel into a port. It was with much difficulty that the crew was able to gain control and prevent a catastrophe.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), a United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of pollution by ships, has also recognized the importance and urgency required to tackle the challenges posed by cybersecurity risks. IMO has issued MSC-FAL.1/Circ.3 Guidelines on maritime cyber risk management and adopted resolution MSC.428(98) encouraging administrations to ensure that cyber risks are appropriately addressed in existing safety management systems before the first annual verification of the company’s Document of Compliance after 1st January 2021.

Through this partnership, Subex and SkyLab will be jointly offering cybersecurity solutions and services including Security Operations Center services to improve overall maritime cybersecurity posture and cyberresilience

Commenting on the partnership, Vinod Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, Subex, said, “This alliance combines Subex’s deep expertise in cybersecurity and SkyLab’s strengths in 4G/5G mobile edge computing and core networking technologies to reliably accelerate, monitor and inspect traffic whilst adapting to dynamic connectivity conditions at sea.  This association will help secure the industry and ensure compliance to standards whilst offering reliable protection to both critical and non-critical systems.

“We are delighted to partner Subex in addressing one of the core concerns of the shipping industry – cybersecurity. Together, we endeavor to empower reliable, secured, and cyber-resilient shipping lanes globally by partnering maritime stakeholders, and enable them to secure of their operations, assets, people as well as data, said Stephen Ho, Group Chief Operating Officer, SkyLab.
