London, UK Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of business support systems (B/OSS) for Communications Service Providers (CSPs), announced that it has launched a new release of its Revenue Operations Centre (ROC) Fraud Management solution – Version 7.4. Subex’s newest version of its ROC Fraud Management solution introduces inline controls for preventing subscription fraud, transaction fraud and equipment loss at point of sale.

ROC Fraud Management is Subex’s award-winning solution that helps wireless and wireline operators eliminate known frauds, uncover new fraud patterns, minimize fraud run time, augment internal controls and support continuous fraud management process improvement. Subex fraud management customers report rapid return on investment and increased productivity and efficiency by significantly reducing the complexity of the fraud management process.

Subex has implemented a new inline control framework, which enables service providers to carry out proactive checks on a new subscriber at the time of customer acquisition. Because of this, the Point of Sale (PoS) staff will no longer need to wait until the fraudster is provisioned and later detected through behavioural rules and profiling. The PoS staff can make real-time decisions and accept, decline or refer any subscriber to prevent fraudsters from entering the network. This also prevents the fraudsters from walking away with valuable devices.

With increasing involvement of telecom operators in money transactions (e.g. mobile money services); it is imperative for them to have strict policy controls to not only detect, but prevent fraudulent transactions occuring. With inline transaction controls, operators can validate any transaction request in real time and prevent fraudulent transactions from being processed.

“We are pleased to release the latest version of our industry leading ROC Fraud Management solution,” said Sudeesh Yezhuvath, Chief Operating Officer at Subex. “The newest version of our fraud management solution includes the ability for operators to carry out real-time checks at the transaction request stage and subscriber acquisition stage and thus prevents fraudulent transactions and handset loss.”

The Subex ROC Fraud Management solution version 7.4 is market ready.

London, UK Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of Business Support Systems (B/OSS) for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and Heavy Reading, an independent research organization conducted an in-depth global survey to understand the problems operators face with their data quality and data integrity.

The in-depth survey based on responses from 95 operators across North America, Europe, South America, Asia/Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa, highlights some critical benchmarks in the data integrity management space. It reflects how CSPs across the globe lack substantial investment in data integrity.

Poor data integrity has been a longstanding problem in carrier environments that leads to inefficiencies and expensive manual re-work across the full range of operations such as provisioning and activation, service assurance, billing and capacity planning. According to the 2011 Analysys Mason Report, the global market for Data Integrity Management will reach $137M by 2014 from $98M in 2010.

A few highlights of the ¬findings are:

  • Six out of every 10 operators globally experience up to 30 percent order fallouts.
  • The main reasons for high order fallout are too many manual steps and also too many siloed processes and process views.
  • The majority of operators still feel more than 20 % of their inventory data is out of sync with the network
  • Approximately 50 percent of operators still use ad hoc manual audits to keep inventory data in sync with the network.

The report shows trends and results across geographies, with results for ¬five major regions: North America, Europe, South America, Asia/Paci¬fic, and the Middle East and Africa. It takes into consideration the fact that results vary across the globe, as operators and their demands are specifi¬c to their own region. On average, North America emerges as a region that uses maximum automation in processes, while Asia/Paci¬fic shows maximum synchronization between network and inventory data.

Data accuracy and integrity are the tenets of operational excellence for telecommunications and network service providers. So to combat the problems that operators have with the quality, accuracy, consistency and relevance of data Subex offers its ROC® Data Integrity Management solution.

Subex’s ROC Data Integrity Management solution combines three powerful data integrity functions: multi-layer network and service discovery; data reconciliation; and discrepancy analytics. The solution discovers devices and logical services in diverse network environments and reconciles this data with the OSS/BSS on a continuous, controlled basis. The result is consistent, relevant data throughout service provider operations, enhancing the effectiveness and value of service fulfillment, service assurance, and billing systems.

Sudeesh Yezhuvath, COO, Subex Ltd said, “For an operator, the goal is to reduce operational, network and capital expenditures in a cost-optimized and time-efficient manner that accelerates ROI from a data quality program. Although many operators are now recognizing the need for a data integrity solution, we believe that with the entry of new technologies and higher complexities, data integrity management will gain considerable importance with discovery and reconciliation solution high up on the list”.

The Subex/Heavy Reading Data Integrity Management (DIM) Benchmarking Survey also looks at CSPs’ wish list for future offerings, their planned areas of investment around OSS/BSS which they cannot obtain at present.

Orlando, Florida, USA – Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of Business Support Systems (B/OSS) for Communications Service Providers (CSPs), will be participating in a big way at the TM Forum’s Management World Americas 2011 to be held in Orlando, Florida, November 8-10, 2011.

Subex will be participating at Forumville in the catalyst ‘Executive Dashboard for Data Analytics and Business Benchmarking’. This catalyst demonstrates executive dashboards leveraging simplified, automated benchmarking based on industry-agreed metrics from the TM Forum Business Benchmarking Database – geared to improve business decisions.

The TM Forum Business Metrics Automation program was launched at the Management World conference in Dublin in May this year. The program works with software suppliers and consultants to incorporate TM Forum’s standardized Business Metrics into products and solutions; this allows service providers to automatically upload metric data into the TM Forum Business Benchmark Database. Subex has been involved with the program since its launch, and has completed pilot phase 1 of the TM Forums Business Metrics Automation program.

In addition, Subex will be demonstrating the award-winning ROCware analytics platform at booth number 12A. Subex’s ROCware platform harnesses the wealth of operational data that service providers have, transforms it into actionable information, and then enables business users to act on it – all in near-real-time.

“The telecoms market is continuing to face significant commercial and technical challenges and the TM Forum and its technical programmes provide excellent opportunities for the CSPs and vendors to innovate together,” said Sudeesh Yezhuvath, COO, Subex. “We will be participating in the ‘Executive Dashboard for Data Analytics and Business Benchmarking’ Catalyst that will show how communications service providers (CSPs) can leverage business analytics to transform disparate operational data into actionable and timely insight, thereby improving customer experience, using our latest analytics software.”

LONDON, UK – Subex Limited, a leading global provider of Business Support Systems (B/OSS) for CSPs (Communications Service Providers), announced today that it has received the International Standard Organisation (ISO) Information Security Management System (ISMS) accreditation, ISO 27001, to support its work for BT. The world’s leading CSPs are starting to demand the ISO 27001 accreditation from all their main software and services suppliers, as Subex’s accreditation demonstrates.

ISO 27001 is part of a family of Information Security Management System (ISMS) standards and formally specifies a management system to bring information security under explicit management control. Organizations that claim to have adopted ISO/IEC 27001 can be formally audited and certified compliant with the standard. For the ISO/IEC 27001 certification, Subex was audited and recommended for accreditation by Intertek. BT Security carried out their own audit and awarded Subex their highest information security rating.

As CSPs increase their levels of Management Services and Cloud computing, an auditable management system for information security becomes even more important. All CSPs have a duty of care towards their customers’ data and are always seeking ways to improve their levels of security. ISO 27001 is an extremely rigorous standard and CSP suppliers like Subex, have to undergo extensive testing before they can be certified compliant by one of the ‘Accredited Registrars’.

“BT is one of the world’s leading communications providers and the company is constantly driving quality benchmarks,” said Paul Skillen, President of Subex EMEA. “We expect the same level of demand of information security from our other Tier 1 customers and Subex has demonstrated it can meet the highest requirements through the recent ISO 27001 audit process.”

The Subex solution also provides maximum commercial flexibility because Partner Settlement supports all inter-operator business models.

“Due to a Türk Telekom Group decision, being the mobile part of the Group, we replaced our legacy interconnection system with Subex’s Partner Settlement. Although Subex’s solution has various flexible and easy to use features, we are, for the time being, mainly using and quite satisfied with Bill Generation, Reconciliation and Dashboard features, to support our business in a rapidly growing and changing network and market conditions” said Nazim Efe, Billing & Charging Solutions Director of Avea.

“We are pleased to have been chosen by Avea to provide our ROC Partner Settlement solution”, said Sudeesh Yezhuvath, Chief Operating Officer, Subex Limited. “Our solution will provide efficient cost management, and its flexibility, scalability and ease of use will help Avea manage complex agreements efficiently and accurately.”

Bangalore, INDIA – Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) for communications service providers (CSP’s), has launched a whitepaper about helping prevent fraud in Machine to Machine (M2M) communications and Embedded Mobile environments. Subex’s industry leading Revenue Operations Centre (ROC®) Fraud Management solution provides real-time fraud controls that can help prevent telecommunication fraud in M2M.

Machine to Machine (M2M) Communications and the related concept of Embedded Mobile refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same ability.  M2M devices have been in existence for over a decade, but have been predominant in the automotive sector until recently.

M2M devices are now penetrating the consumer applications sector such as smart metering, supply-side generation management, home and business surveillance, cardio-vascular disease and diabetes management, and body area networks. The advancement of wireless networks has changed the M2M ecosystem from a restricted one-to-one device communication into a connection of networks that relay data to and from multiple devices very fast and at relatively low cost.

Declining average revenues per user (ARPU) and increasing customer demands for real-time access to services, have prompted service providers to venture into new areas with new underlying revenue models. One of the most prominent is the M2M market. This rapidly expanding market presents a great opportunity for CSPs to increase their revenues.

The ROC Fraud Management Solution from Subex is built to drive fraud prevention by eliminating known frauds, uncovering new fraud patterns, minimizing fraud run-time, augmenting internal controls, and supporting continuous fraud management process improvement.

“As CSPs continue to exploit this growing market, it is crucial for them to have appropriate controls in place to counter various fraud threats. An end-to-end fraud management solution like Subex’s ROC Fraud Management can help CSPs counter existing and future M2M frauds.” said Mark Nicholson, Chief Technology Officer at Subex. He further added, “Since M2M is a relatively new and dynamic environment, at Subex, we are committed to work with our customers to stay on top of new fraud trends, which if not properly addressed could lead to substantial exposure and revenue loss.”

LONDON, UK – Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) for communications service providers, announced that it has been awarded a Managed Services contract upon successful implementation of its industry leading ROC Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance solution for Econet.

Econet Wireless is a diversified telecommunications group with operations in nine countries in Africa, Europe and the East Asia Pacific Rim, offering products and services in mobile and fixed telephony services, internet and satellite. Worldstream Systems & Services is part of the Econet Group and is responsible for the selection, implementation and ongoing management & support of large IT systems for the Group and is the partner with Subex on this project.

Subex’s ROC solutions cover Econet’s complete customer organization, not just at a central level but at the local country levels as well. Subex’s wide presence and experience on centralized implementations within Africa was a clear-cut differentiator when Econet was looking for a solution provider. Subex was chosen over competition owing to its ability to offer additional components over and above the current requirement and run the applications on a managed service model.

ROC Revenue Assurance is designed not only to detect potential revenue loss, but also to assist an operator with its investigation, diagnosis and recovery of these revenues. It provides unprecedented automated correction capabilities to improve bottom-line results and provide a quick return-on-investment. The solution is flexible and will support revenue assurance practices as the provider expands and matures.

The ROC Fraud Management solution supports end-to-end fraud management, from initial information gathering and detection through case closure. The solution is built to help CSPs move towards fraud prevention by eliminating known frauds, reducing free run time, augmenting internal controls and through continuous fraud management process improvement. The solution ensures a rapid return on investment (ROI) by offering the strongest fraud management capabilities, increasing compliance, reducing risk, and providing economies of scope.

Anthony John Carter, the CEO, Worldstream Systems & Services at Econet, said, “We are pleased with the successful implementation of Subex’s ROC for Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance. We chose Subex because of their great track record with business optimization, their experience on centralized implementations within Africa and their ability to not only deal with our organization at a central level but also reach out to the company at a local level.”

“Africa is a growing telecom market and the operator needed a fraud and revenue assurance solution that could help them achieve competitive advantage in their market.” noted Sudeesh Yezhuvath, COO at Subex. “As a key part of our Business Optimisation portfolio, we are happy that our acclaimed and unique platform, ROC for Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management, has exceeded the customer’s expectation and we are now providing Managed Services to the operator to help optimise their business and improve customer experience.”
