A survey reveals that telecom companies with robust digital capabilities boast a profit margin of 43 percent, compared to their counterparts whose margins hover around 21 percent. A Tier 1 European operator is targeting €1 billion from digital services by 2020. These insights implies that digital transformation is the way ahead and consumers are at the heart of this transformation.
To enable digital transformation, operators need to create new service models in partnership with third-party vendors, over-the-top (OTT) content providers etc. and formulate new partner ecosystem management strategy. A service provider that can successfully manage partners will be able to maximize its revenue potential across the digital value chain. For successful implementation of the digital strategy, operators need to adopt digital business metrics from traditional business metrics without compromising a few traditional business imperatives.
